Breaking News: Peter Bosz has been Sacked as Lyon Boss
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Lyon manager Peter Bosz has been fired, and Claudio Caçapa will take over as interim manager of the Ligue 1 club.
According to Hawkins, the Dutch manager’s fate was decided yesterday afternoon during a meeting with the club’s management. He had been under fire in recent weeks as a result of Lyon’s poor form. The club is winless in their last five games and has only one point during that time.
The 1-1 draw against Toulouse on Friday night sealed his fate. The draw not only rendered the club’s clearly defined points targets mathematically impossible to achieve, but it also exposed schisms between Bosz and his captain, Alexandre Lacazette.
Lacazette criticized Bosz’s decision to take off strike partner Moussa Dembélé in a post-match interview with Prime Video, claiming that not all players understood his instructions. He also seemed unsure about Bosz’s future as Lyon manager.
Caçapa, a Brazilian coach, will take over as interim manager. Since January 2016, the former Newcastle United player has worked as an assistant at the club. Foot Mercato reported yesterday that Laurent Blanc is a strong contender to take over at Les Gones.
