Hero of Madrid – Mignolet to continue ‘fighting story’ after historic Atletico performance
Mignolet has made 21 saves in the Champions League this season and has not conceded a single goal

Club Brugge goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has opened up on his latest performance for the Belgian club in the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stages.
Mignolet was the star of the match as the Belgian goalkeeper made nine (9) saves in their second-leg Group B fixture against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, October 12.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper helped Club Brugge secure their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with 10 points from four matches so far.
This is the dream! – Mignolet
Mignolet also put in an impressive performance in the first-leg 2-0 defeat of Atletico Madrid last week, making five (5) saves at the Jan Breydel Stadium to give Club Brugge a shock Matchday 3 victory over the Spanish giants.
After his latest exploits on Wednesday, Mignolet said in his post-match press comments that this is just the beginning for Club Brugge as the ‘story doesn’t end here.’

According to the official UEFA Champions League Twitter page, Mignolet said: “This is a dream! We fought until the end and we finally did it. But our story doesn’t end here: let’s see how far we can go!”
Mignolet has kept four clean sheets in all four Champions League group matches this season, the only goalkeeper to have such a 100% record this season.
Club Brugge manager praises team spirit
Club Brugge manager Carl Hoefkens also chipped in at the end of the second-leg match against Atletico Madrid, praising the team spirit within the Club Brugge ranks.

“The team spirit within this club is amazing. I am incredibly satisfied with that,” Hoefkens said per Club Brugge’s official Twitter account.
The Belgian Pro League side need just one win from their remaining two group stage matches against FC Porto and Bayer Leverkusen to finish top of Group B.
