Lionel Messi had every Argentine supporter singing his name around the world after he scored the opening goal against Mexico.
The forward player broke the deadlock in a win or burst match in their second group game at the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Messi came into the competition having scored 6 goals heading into Qatar.
The two goals scored so far by Messi at the competition ( Saudi Arabia and Mexico) have taken the Argentine’s goal tally to eight, the same number of World Cup goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi also surpassed Maradona’s record with the highest number of World Cup appearances by an Argentine.
