Qatar2022: Terenga Lions of Senegal Roar to the Round of 16
The winners of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal have advanced to the next round of the ongoing FIFA World Cup hosted in Qatar.

Goals from Ismalia Sarr and Kalidou Koulibaly in the first half and the second half of the game against Ecuador gave Africans the victory. They needed a win to guarantee a place in the next round and they lived up to the expectations of every African around the world, finishing second in the group behind the Netherlands.
Senegal lost their opening group game against the Netherlands but won their second and third game against Qatar and Ecuador, ensuring they finished second in the group with six points.
The Terenga Lions were hit with an injury to their talisman, Sadio Mane before the start of the competition. However, the West Africans have not allowed the injury to Mane to affect their performance in Qatar.
Supporters of Senegal will hope the team can replicate the same performance as they did in the FIFA World Cup that was hosted by South Korea and Japan in 2002. The Lions reached the quarter-final of the competition losing to Turkey by a goal to nil.
